My name is Luigi, I was born on the 22 of April 1988.
When I was a child my nickname was The Lawyer because I soon learnt to speak very well and I enjoyed the company of adults and the possibility of talking with them. At the school I never had problems, I liked studying, doing homework and staying among friends. My favorite subjects were the Italian language, especially the writing part, philosophy, which I consider a fantastic and useful self-exploration and mathematics and science in general as they are the most powerful tool to understand and dominate the world around us.
At the university I chose Chemistry, Theoretical and Physical Chemistry to be more precise. My idea was to have a tool halfway between the exact but unreal mathematics and the mysterious, unpredictable reality, a tool which if well understood, would allow me to interact at the very bottom with the things around and to help humanity with some useful and beautiful invention. Of course I was far too optimistic as I gradually understood while years and exams went on. Reality is far more complex than my teenager imagination could think and science is still in an early stage to reach the level of control I thought possible. During the years at university I had the chance of learning a lot of Computer Science; I learnt the basics of C, Python and I got in touch with the marvellous world of open-source. I think of my discovery of the world around open-source as one of the most important fact in my life; the idea that there are so many people ready to help each other and to collaborate in the name of a passion, without or with an extremely low exchange of money, without the desire of anything but being useful and having fun is something which strike and struck me in so a pleasant way as to make me, every time I think of it, optimistic and happy about the deep nature of humans.
As I was saying some line above, at the university I studied a lot of Computer Science, I liked it very much and I'm still enriching my knowledge in that field. I now know the basics of Java, Android, Python, C, Web Programming and enjoy attending online courses on platforms like Coursera and EdX.
After I graduate I worked one year as Software Developer for a StartUp in Rome. The experience has been very positive as it allowed me to increase my level as a programmer and, most important, I understood that I don't want to be a Software Developer as my major job. I mean, I really like it and as above said I'm still learning and coding but I feel like I have the necessity of something else for my complete realization; I need to satisfy my need for people, that is to say my natural tendency toward helping others; I've really reflected upon it and found out this is one of the constants through my life and as such, must be supported with the right job.
With this in mind, I'm now engaged in a PhD in Management and Business Engineering; I really think this is going to be the right channel to address what my brain and my heart need.
On the whole I'm a very curious and altruistic guy, I enjoy the company of people and I like helping them (I do volunteer once a week and I'm a blood donor), I think that it doesn't matter what you are able of doing but what you can do and that life must be tasted in all its many flavors. I'd like to use my capabilities to do something useful to others and... well, if you've read up to this point you know enough of me, so thank you and I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the site!
